Using Termistops keeps 1,037 Gallons of Pesticide from being applied to the soil

The Montopolis Condos complex is an Austin Habitat for Humanity project located in Austin, TX.  The project consists of 6 condos totaling 12 residential units for Habitat for Humanity.

Austin Habitat for Humanity first contacted Termimesh about Termistops in August 2009 when Habitat was building its first LEED-certified home. Since then, Termimesh and ABC Home and Commercial Services have donated their products and labor to install Termistops on Austin Habitat for Humanity builds.

Bobby Jenkins, President and CEO of ABC Home and Commercial Services, found the choice to provide termite protection for Habitat for Humanity simple. “Habitat for Humanity and ABC are committed to helping the local community. When the opportunity arose to provide our services for Habitat's homes, it was an easy decision to make."

When asked about multiple products available for use in termite new construction work, why use Termistops?  Jenkins responded, "At ABC, we feel like Termistops provides the new homeowner the most effective and longest-lasting protection.  Termistops being made from Type 725 marine grade stainless steel will be protecting the home's critical hidden areas for many years to come."

Material Comparison

If a soil-based termiticide had been applied per label requirements, 1,037 gallons of termiticide would have been applied to the soil.  But with Termistops, ABC Home and Commercial Services installed 106 Termistop flanges and 3 Termistop Blockouts. Because Termistops were used, zero pesticides were used for this project.

This video shows an authorized installation partner installing a sustainable termite barrier using Termistop flanges on a Habitat for Humanity job site in Austin, Texas.

Termistops are a first step towards a permanent, non-chemical termite barrier.  Termistops use construction science and superior construction-grade materials to create an effective long-term termite solution.

Installed during construction to address the critical areas at the utility penetrations, Termistop makes the perfect start to any termite pre-treatment.
