Lesson 2: Termistop Bath Trap/Tub Box Installation
Lesson two shows how to install a Termistop bath trap properly. Watch the video to learn the process, then follow the step-by-step instructions to review the key points.
This video shows the steps involved when installing a Termistop Bath Trap.
Step-By-Step: Installing a Termistop Bath Trap
Place the Termistop bath trap over the pipe.
STEP ONE: Remove the blockout and any tape or other obstruction from the pipe. Ensure that the pipe's surface is clean.
STEP TWO: Place the Termistop Bathtrap on top of the pipe as shown. Press the clamp down on the mesh and tighten the clamp at the top of the pipe.
Cut an “X” at the top of the pipe clamp.
STEP THREE: Cut an "X" at the top of the pipe clamp as shown. Make sure that you cut with the grain of the mesh. Failure to cut with the grain will result in the mesh not staying folded.
Grab and fold the tabs over the edge of the clamp
STEP FOUR: Grab one of the tabs at the "point" and fold it in half. Then fold the tab over the edge of the clamp as shown. Repeat for the other three tabs.
Loosen the clamp and lower to the vapor barrier
STEP FIVE: Loosen the clamp and lower the Bathtrap to the surface of the vapor barrier or pad. Tighten the clamp to secure the Bathtrap in place.
Flatten the bath trap and replace the blockout.
STEEP SIX: Flatten the Bathtrap out onto the vapor barrier as shown. Make sure the edges of the bathtrap are folded up as shown in the photo. Replace the blockout (box, tray, foam, etc.). Place Termitape on top of the pipe or the blockout.
