Lesson 3: Termistop Pipe Cluster Installation
This lesson shows how to properly install multiple Termistop flanges over a pipe cluster. Watch the video to learn the process, then follow the step-by-step instructions to review the key points.
Step-By-Step Pipe Cluster Installation
Line up the edges of the Termistops you will join.
STEP 1: Start by unfolding the safety edges on the Termistops. Once you have completed this, place the two Termistops you wish to join together “bottom to bottom” as shown making sure to line up the edge of the Termistop where we will join them together.
After the edge is lined up, we start with a small fold of the edges, using the needle-nose pliers to tighten and crimp the fold. We’ll fold it again and tighten it using the needle-nose pliers. Finally, we’ll, fold it a third time and tighten/crimp again using the needle-nose pliers. Slowly open your cluster and tighten/crimp again using the needle-nose plier shown here. Your “cluster” is now ready to install.
Expose the pipes where we’ll install the Termistops.
STEP 2: We’ll prepare our clustered pipes by carefully removing all tape and wrapping material to expose the pipe in the area where we want to install the Termistops. It is important to remember how the pipes were originally set so that we can put them back in the correct placement. Now, we can install our “Clustered Termistops.”
Slide the conjoined Termistops down the pipes.
STEP 3: Carefully slide the Termistops down to the correct level on the pipes. Make sure that the Termistops are installed at the mid-depth of the concrete slab to ensure that the edges of the Termistops “key” into the concrete. Now tighten the clamps to lock the Termistops in place.
Replace material and tape pipes together.
STEP 4: Now, we replace the covered material on the pipes and tape them together to secure them in place.
Apply Termitape and check for corrosion points.
STEP 5: Apply the Termitape to mark the completion of our cluster.
STEP 6: Ensure that your Termistop edges are not in contact with the rebar to prevent corrosion.
Congratulations, your pipe cluster Termistops are now installed.
